Summer vs Winter
Looking Stylish in Summer and Winter
Depending on where you are in the world, you may have two different wardrobes, one for summer and one for
winter. You might have a box full of hats and a drawer full of tights and leggings just waiting for those colder
months, and you might have all your cute sundresses waiting to be used in a separate closet.
If you don't then that's where your creativity and individual style will come into good use!
Amazing blogger Delmy (right) of Fashion Bananas hits it right whatever
the weather. She looks stunning at any time of year, and more importantly she always looks like herself!
These two photos represent some of the different stylish ensembles she has created over the history of her blog.
The top picture shows her summer style; an eclectic mix of delicate, floral and edgy. The studded wedges keep this
look high fashion, and the floral jacket is up-to-date vintage inspired.
Her more wintry look has a tougher edge, and is very suitable for day to day wear. Although all black doesn't
suit everybody, Delmy knows it looks great on her and mixes different kinds of black material together to form
something really couture. The shoes are a gorgeous addition, and really make the outfit look like catwalk
couture.
Dressing for Summer
Decide on some key pieces for this season to update any of your older clothes. You can make last years clothes
look edgy and fresh by pairing it with something super fashionable. For example, in summer 2009 you could pair
anything with a floral jacket, a pair of wayfarers and some oversized tshirts.
When it gets really hot this summer, wear some simple denim shorts and an oversized tshirts to keep you as cool
as possible. Sunglasses are truly important, wear them with everything, and get some different shapes too to make a
statement (try on some vintage frames!)
Summer sundresses are great to wear and layer up from morning til night. Don't go for bodycon 80s styles if its
really hot, as this won't let your skin breathe, instead opt for lighter airy fabrics with movement.
Dressing for Winter
Boots, boots, boots. You can wear boots with all of your summer clothes and make them look much more wintry, and
you will also feel a lot warmer too. Sling on a cardigan and get a coat that you really love to pop over it.
Tights and leggings are a great way to keep warm and make the transition between seasons seem that much easier.
This season search out different patterns and colours, experiment away from the staple black if you feel
daring.
Scarves, Gloves and Hats = Rules of Winter Essentials.
♥ Don't do matching unless they are super expensive.
♥ Pick out a beanie, and experiment with different ways to wear it.
♥ Enjoy different types of gloves: fingerless, mittens, long-sleeved, etc.
♥ Snuggle up under a big chunky wool scarf when its snowing.
♥ Pick a hat the fits your head, and won't blow off when the wind starts blowing.
♥ If it's so cold you need to wear all three, get them in the same colour, but not matching textures and
fabrics.
