Lahlah Is Here
Lahlah Is Here is a fashion blog with
a really exciting fashion style that challenges shape and structure as well as looking halfway between vintage
and futuristic - we think she is one to watch out for setting new trends...
1. How would you describe your style?
More refined definitely. With time. I love piling up and mixing it. Most of the time I go.. 'Ooo..Im a grey and
navy person' but I have to take that back sometimes because there is so much inspiration. Style can't be airtight
at times but it definitely evolves like everything else. The trick is to make it your own. Its like mixing Lanvin
and Vivienne Westwood..or Celine and cute cartoony stuff like the stuff you see in Japanese streets.
Countering..yep. I love doing that.
2. What's your favorite outfit you've ever worn?
That is hard. I love almost everything I own right now. Everything I have been wearing of late.
3. Your favorite things about the place you live?
The diversity! My ethnic tribal wear and again Indian clothing staples like the harem/drop crotch pants that took
the fashion world by storm. That was interesting. Then mixing up the former and the latter with western basic
items. And thrifting is the best part, thriving off of it.
4. Describe your perfect day...
Im not a very outdoorsey person so it would be staying in with good music or a good book, taking pictures. If I do
go out, then it would have to be checking out whats new at the secondhand/thrifstores and ending the day with close
friends and family.
5. You have such a unique eye for putting together interesting outfits, how do you put an outfit
together?
That is my favourite part. I love that. Its like zooming in on your closet, focusing on your favourite items and
sometimes your least favourite ones. Nag them to be friends and get quizzical about how to perfect that union.
Colour palette and proportion. Then after Im done, the last thing I look into is which watch would go with the
whole outfit. I dont accessorize much so I love my watches and my simple round earrings in gold that I have been
wearing since I was 4.
6. Favorite fashionable movie?
An education. Carey Mulligan all wide-eyed :)
7. What are the top 3 most worn items in your closet?
My thrifted brown meshy tulle skirt.
MY grey long Zara skirt.
My grey Zara top which goes with everything. Practically living in it.
8. Who are your favorite designers?
Alber Elbaz, Miuccia Prada, Marc jacobs, Vivienne westwood. Their vision is whats extraordinary.
9. Where do you like to go shopping?
Thriftstores. Nothing beats that.
10. What do you think are the secrets to looking stylish?
I believe you have to be very clear about what you like, not for the sake of it being on trend. Style, personal
style is timeless. There's a bucketload of inspiration to draw from everyday and its overwhelming and I have to
catch my breath at times. Yes I do. A pause and I literally go whew. I appreciate art and beautiful, innovative
ideas like everyone else and I think that is the beauty in it. As long as you have fun with it, like how dressing
up or even dressing down is still fun to you no matter what, I believe great style will come through.
