Megan from Donatila Rose shares with us her favorite makeup products, her top music artists, and the fashion 'rules' she follows. This stylish woman is such an inspiration - we love the seventies vibe in her outfits, and the way she works different lengths together!Donatila Rose Blog

1. Describe your style in 3 words...
Ooh that's hard. Retro, feminine and fun.

2. Who, what or where most inspires you?
I'm most inspired by the 60's, 70's, the early 80's amd my mother, whom I named my blog after. She was really into fashion growing up. She actually designed her owned clothing in college. I was always going through her old photos just to see what she was wearing. Old TV shows like Three's Company, magazine editorials from those decades and also home decor from those times are some more of my best inspirations.

3. How do you put together an outfit?
I have different processes. I could have just bought something new and I'll be excited to wear it. I could take all my favorite pieces at the moment and just put them together. Or lastly, I'll dig up old pieces in my closet and play dress up. I do that when I'm in a fashion rut and I find the best outfits mixing old and new items.

4. Describe a typical day in your life.
Okay, I'm a stay at home mother of 3 so nothing glamourous! I wake up at 5:30 to help my hubby off to work, go back to bed and wake up at 7. Get my eldest daughter ready for school and then lug my other two with me to bring her. Come home, have breakfast with the two, play with them and watch a little TV. They nap and I check my email and that usually leads me to browsing and possibly shopping online. The kids wake up, they play some more, I clean up. If I plan to do a shoot that day, I'll get ready for that. We'll go and pick my eldest daughter and my photographer (my 17 year old brother who just got a DSLR for his bday) from school and go to my parents house. I'll leave the kids there while my brother and I go and shoot for 30 minutes to an hour. Come back, upload the photos, go home and get dinner ready. Spend time with the family and then put everyone to bed. I'll do a blog post, clean up and go to sleep.

5. How many pairs of shoes do you own, and which are your favourites?
I've never counted but I'd say about 50 at the moment and a good 15 of them are currently in rotation. My brown JC Mary Roks, my F21 booties that are copies of the JC Nations, my newest zara clogs, these DSW clogs that are copies of the JC Copens, and my moccasin flats. Those are all my favorites. I've overdone clogs for myself so I'm in need of an update!

Mixing Different Fashion Lengths6. What is your favourite food?
Oh my, so much! I love Filipino, Japanese, Indian, Thai, Korean, Italian, Mexican, El Salvadorian, Chinese...everything! I'm really very open to different kinds of food and I'll try anything once. Except for escargot and beef tongue!

7. What style 'rules' do you follow?
Mix. Mix different lengths, old with new, feminine with rocker, flowy with structured...basically my rules are to break them.

8. Most loved skincare and makeup products?
Purity by Philosophy, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, DiorShow Mascara, MAC's Shimmersand Shadestick, Make Up Forever's lipstick in 201, MAC's Underplay lipstick and NARS eyeshadow in Cordura and blush in Deep Throat. I never realized I had so many!

9. Which are your favourite music artists or bands?
At the top of my head, Lauryn Hill, The Strokes, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Vampire Weekend, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, D'Angelo, Amel Larreaux, Bob Marley, The Beatles...the list goes on! I need music to survive.

10. If you had to start your wardrobe from scratch, and your budget was limitless, what 5 pieces would you go out and get straight away?
Stone Cold Fox Drifter blouse in ivory, I'd buy my J Brand Doll Jeans and my Winter Kate Saxon Crepe shorts back, the black vintage Chanel tote with the small cc logo that MK Olsen has, and then I guess I need shoes. I don't have a pair I absolutely want right now but it would be a 60's style platform.
