Delightfully Tacky
Elizabeth from Delightfully Tacky spoke with us
about her upcoming Winnebago adventure, her adoration for Minnetonka and let us in on the secret behind her
gorgeous locks.
1. What one outfit you've
pictured on you blog most represents your individual style?
That's hard to say... most of my outfits pretty
much define my style. A few are me trying out new things and kind of pushing the boundaries of my comfort
zone, but for the most part pretty much all my outfits are an accurate depiction of my style.
2. What are your favorite things
about Alaska - places and things to do a tourist guide wouldn't talk about?
Most of my experiences in Alaska are things that
tourists wouldn't get to do. I've commercial fished (kind of like Deadliest Catch, only with much smaller
boats and salmon, not crab), landed in a plane on the tops of mountains, stood on an iceberg, gone to iditarod
checkpoints and hung out with mushers and dogs, snowmachined through the wilderness... I mean I think living in
Alaska is a lot different than being a tourist. Not that there aren't cool things for tourists to do,
it's just hard to say what a tourist should do in Alaska besides the typical things they do.
3. Where does your style
inspiration come from?
Most of my inspiration comes from other bloggers.
I don't get a lot of inspiration from magazines or runway shows, though occasionally I'll find a trend
that I like.
4. What are your favorite pair
of shoes?
My Minnetonka moccasins. I love them so much,
after a dog destroyed my first pair I immediately bought a replacement pair.
5. Describe your perfect
day...
Driving someplace amazing in my Winnebago, probably
to the ocean, and then spending the day hiking or exploring with someone I love, then coming home and warming
up and listening to great music.
6. You are about to head off on
a long journey in an RV, tell us more about why you chose to do it and what you are planning on doing on the
road...
I kind of have just always wanted to live in an RV
and travel around. I figured I might as well do it now when I'm not tied down to anything or anyone.
I plan on just going where the wind blows me, exploring new places along the way.
7. What do you think the perfect outfit is for cold winter
days?
Depends on what you're doing. If you're playing in
the snow, gear up in cold weather jackets and snowpants and stuff. But if you're just hanging out, I
always like wearing tights/leggings with a cute dress, cardigan and scarf.
8. Your hair is
sensational, do you have any secrets for getting it so long and thick, or any tips on styling
it?
Secret: Genetics.
I don't know if I have any styling tips either, I
really don't do much to it other than blow drying (if I don't blow dry it'll be wet for days). It mainly
does what it wants and I'm just along for the ride.
9. If you were to help someone
recreate their wardrobe, what pieces would you suggest they buy and where would you go to get
them?
Always thrift. It's an easy and cheap way to
try new styles without breaking the bank. If you can't find something at a thrift store you can always go
to cheaper places like Forever 21. Plus if you thrift, you'll always have really unique
stuff.
10. What 3 things do you wish
someone had told you when you were younger?
Hm. Everything I was told was pretty much dead on,
and the stuff I learned on my own I'm glad I learned on my own. I didn't get a lot of silly superfluous
fashion rules when I was younger. I wore sweats, jeans, and sneakers forever, but my own style evolved on
its own and I'm glad it did. I don't think kids should be bothered with fashion.
