Crimson Rosella
Kirstin from
Crimson Rosella shares with us her love of
Australia, passion for potato chips and how she dresses for a
day of teaching.
1. Tell us 3 things
about yourself. I’m currently in Teachers
College, I have a six year old sister and I am a night
owl.
2. How would you describe your
style? Eclectic, delicate and artistic.
3. What's your favorite outfit you've ever
worn? I wore trousers, a printed t-shirt, a polka
dot cardi and a leopard scarf tied around my hair (see
here). I liked the
subtle mixing of prints.
4. What are your favorite things about living in
Canada? It has great beauty, is so multi-cultural
and when we travel other countries love us.
5. Your makeup always looks immaculate, what are
your beauty must haves? “Maybelline Line Stiletto”
for the perfect winged eyeliner, Bare Escentuals foundation and
blush. I am a sucker for M.A.C but I stick to eye shadow and
lipstick from there as I found their foundation was not kind to
my skin.
6. Who most inspires your fashion
style? Your average personal style bloggers give me
the most inspiration, there is nothing like seeing regular
clothes on regular people to get inspired for remixing pieces.
I am inspired by so many gorgeous bloggers, it is hard to pick
just a couple!
7. Describe your perfect day... A
shopping day with my mom! Obviously, with loads of amazing
sales! Our favourite way to spend time together is to go to
many malls in one day and find the best deals we can.
8. Your post series '
Teacher Style File' is awesome, what are your tips for
choosing work appropriate but still stylish and fun
clothing? I have found that buying fun but
dressy and modest outfit pieces makes get dressed for work
much easier. I try to veer away from the classic black
pencil skirt and go for a-lines, pleats and high-waisted
trousers. Having patterned cardigans are also great for
adding pizzazz to a simple outfit. As I can’t walk well in
heels, I find that oxfords are comfortable for the long
hours I spend standing. My “teacher style” has paid off as
my students and colleagues often comment on my stylish
outfits.
9. What are your favorite movies for
costume? I adore “Marie Antoinette”, “Pride and
Prejudice” and “Factory Girl”. I clearly don’t love one era
alone! I just love the decadence of “Marie Antoinette”.
10. You have an amazing collection of rings, which
is your favorite and why? My favourite is my opal
ring that I got right before I left Australia. I bought it as a
souvenir to remind me of my amazing year there. It will also be
such a great piece to have forever.
11. You've recently been doing lots of travelling,
where was your favorite place and why? Well
recently I lived in Australia for a year, travelled to New
Zealand and Fiji. My favourite place would have to be a place
in Australia called “Lady Musgrave Island” which is in
Queensland. My boyfriend and I took a road trip there in a
little van that we camped in. The island was full of gorgeous
coral, turtles and is part of the Great Barrier Reef. Living
there was such an amazing experience and I will always have a
soft spot for Australia.
12. What is your favorite food? Well, I
must admit I am not the healthiest eater. I really try but I
always crave carbs. As a result, my greatest weakness is potato
chips. I love any flavour and have a difficult time not eating
the whole bag!
