Colour Blocking
Anybody who has recently
been somewhere where it is summer will be well aware that
bright colours and colour blocking are a must this season!
Bright and loud colours make for a dynamic, modern and
confident look and are basically the combination of two or
three bright colours in an outfit. It can be a little
dangerous, but can also easily look great! Colour blocking is
one of the hottest trends at the moment and is a trend so easy
that everyone must get involved.
While many are wary of this new trend, its many
advantages still attracts and entices a wide range of people to
splash a bit of colour into their outfits. Colour blocking
hides flaws as dark colours have a slimming effect, so by
wearing dark colours on problem areas paired with bright
colours, attention is brought to the bright areas and
distracting from the dark.
A darker colour should be worn in different places,
depending on your body shape. An hourglass figure should try to
colour block around the waist, to highlight your figure,
whereas those who have a pear shaped figure should try to stick
to darker shades on their lower body. Those who are short
should try to stay away from dresses that boldly cut colours as
this can emphasise your height, while if your hips are heavy,
colours should be worn vertically and should not be brown
shades or too bright.
The best advice when it comes to colour blocking is not to
be shy and afraid to experiment! Virtually any colour
combination will work, you just need to try!
Those attempting colour blocking should not, however, wear
more than four different colours to prevent looking like a
Rubik's cube and from cutting your body shape in two. Colour
blocking was the top trend at Milan Fashion week which pathed
the way for fashionistas itching to teaming together a fuchsia
skirt and lime green shirt.
Your questions answered:
♥ I have a colour block
dress, but what shoes should I wear with
it?
Pick one of the colours from the dress, or go with simple
black accessories that coordinate. Unless your personal
style is hippy and flamboyant, do not opt for another
colour, as this could make ruin the drama of the dress.
♥ How to accessorize my colour
block dress? Pick sophisticated
future-looking items, with simple shapes and lines. Elegant
circles and simple diamonds or pearls will simply dazzle,
and not distract from the amazing boldness of the
dress.
♥ Where can I buy a cute
colorblocked dress? Check out your local highstreet stores, or browse
online through ebay - it's the sort of item you can only
wear a handful of times before people remember, so it's
likely to be an item people want to sell.
