Different
Jacket Shapes
Some jackets look good on everybody, but some shapes
deserve the right figure. Blazers are fairly universal, cropped
jackets look great on petite figures and fitted suiting looks
belle on hourglass frames.
The stylish Jane of Somewhere
Here works a fashionable jacket look in this
picture (right). The monochrome look is super stylish, and
classic. She has given it a great update with a waist belt,
tunic dress, skinny zip jeans and shoe boots.
Jane's jacket collection consists of loads of fitted
blazers, some that she has customised herself, as well as
leather jackets and faux fur ones. Its a great mix of vintage
and highstreet, and all in dark, neutral colors so she can add
a jacket to any outfit.
The
Blazer
Blazers are a key trend for this season, and every
woman should have on in their wardrobe. Take it with you
everywhere this summer, it's great for the office and gives
jeans a preppy edge. Stick with a neutral colour for long
lasting wearability.
Don't be afraid to customise your jacket. Head over to
your local fabric shop or haberdashery to pick up so funky
additions. Think studs, patches or florals. And ask the shop
assistant; but only if you like what they are wearing!
How to
Wear a Swing Jacket
Swing jackets are
notoriously difficult to wear, unless you have a very
petite frame. Make sure that when you buy a swing jacket
you choose one that fits perfectly, or if it's one that
you already own but is slightly to big, take it to the
dressmakers.
Then it's time to style it. Cropped swing jackets are
a great wedding
outfit accessory, and are a fantastic
cover-up for formal occasions.
Leave all buttons undone on your swing jacket if you have a
large bust, as doing up the buttons near your neckline will
give you an odd outline. Leave it casually open, and show off
your wrists and decolletage.
Wear it with a smart pair of trousers and a shirt if you are
heading to the office, or pair it with jeans and your favorite
top for a more relaxed look
Cropped
Jackets
Short and chic, cropped jackets are great for wearing
over tunic tops and dresses, and creates an interesting
silhouette.
Brilliant for all sorts of shapes, you can really draw
the eye to either your tiny waist, fabulous bust or sexy neck,
or all three! Simply decide where you want people to notice,
then put all the detailing there. For example, if you want them
to see your waistline, choose a belted cropped style, or one
that finishes and buttons at the waist.
Cropped jackets are great for girls with a small cupsize, as
you can find many cropped jackets with detailing around the
neckline, that will really enhance your shape.
Summer
and Winter Jackets
Fabric is the most important way to differentiate
between seasons, with thicker fabrics more suitable for winter,
and lighter fabrics (cotton and linen) perfect for the summer
months.
Of course, length is important too. Winter requires
long sleeves and high necklines, and fully functioning zips.
Summer demands cap sleeves and cropped styles that are
breathable and spacious.
Faux fur and leather is ideal for December, and can be slung
on top of your favorite dress and a thick pair of black tights.
Layer up your leather with your fave lumberjack shirt
underneath, and accessorize with a hardcore pair of boots and
some legwarmers to give you a rocker edge.
