High Heels
How to
Walk and How to Wear Them
I don't know
who invented high heels, but all women owe him a
lot. Marilyn
Monroe.
Wearing high heels can boost your confidence, make you stand
straighter and make you feel more feminine. It is a woman's
perogative to own some gorgeous heels, and wear them from time
to time.
When you are headed off for a special occasion or formal
event, make sure you have chosen your footwear far in advance.
And if there's an event that it might be ok to
wear heels at, then wear them and take flats in your handbag or
car.
Someone that gets heels right almost every time is blogger
Posh of Posh Daily Style. She keeps her outfits
simple and stylish, letting the heels speak for themselves.
Leggings, tights or bare legs, her shoes are always the
centre of attention. By creating a clean silhouette (right),
your eyes are drawn to the detail of the shoes. These chunky
black gladiator heels are gorgeous and very chic!
Learning to Walk in High
Heels
Put them on. Enjoy looking at your new high heels for
a few minutes, then try to stand up. Get used to standing in
them, find your balance and your centre. Look in a mirror to
check you aren't slouching. Relax.
Take a little walk. Slowly at first, and then you can speed
it up a bit once you feel like you can. Every pair will take
some getting used to, as each will give your foot a different
amount of support, and will have straps in different
places.
Whilst you are practicing walking, lean back into it a bit
and relax your shoulders. Keep your arms gently at your sides
and put one foot in front of the other. Breathe. Swing your
hips from side to side, and keep your chin up.
Point your foot, then put your heel down and then follow
with your toe. Walk towards a mirror, and watch yourself. Turn
on some music, and walk to the beat.
Don't bob your head from side to side. Keep your shoulders
back. Keep practicing. Keep your steps as long as you possibly
can.
Different Types of
Heels
Of course height is the main
difference, but there are other differences of course.
Kitten heels, block, wedges, stiletto,
platform. The chunkier the heel, the easier it will be to walk
in, and the safer it will be on cobbles or uneven
streets.
Triangular shaped
heels look modern and fresh, whilst blocks can look quite
90s.
