Formal Clothing
What to
Wear for Formal Occasions
Sometimes when you're pushed to look 'formal' it can
be really easy to stick to preset rules. For example, you are
going to an interview you wear a suit, or you want to wear a
swing jacket so you pair it with some safe balck trousers.
Chances are if you choose the safe option, you'll feel odd
all day, and you won't be as confident as you normally do. You
need to inject some individuality into your formal outfits,
whilst still being appropriate.
Blogger Jamie of The
Alteration looks effortlessly chic in this
black and blue combination (right). It's formal, whilst
retaining her great sense of fashion and unique style. This
look is perfect for a huge number of occasions, from a creative
interview to a dinner date. This outfit is improved by her
great choice of accessories too!
Formal
Clothing for an Interview
It's so tricky to know how to present yourself at interview,
whether you should look sleek and mature in a suit or opt for
complimenting separates.
The most important thing at interview is more about how you
style yourself and what your outfit says about you. If you
choose a boring black skirt suit and do your makeup really
nicely and style your hair, yes you'll look beautiful but you
may not be memorable. If you put a gorgeous shirt underneath
the suit, some huge earrings, fabulous shoes and a waist belt
on top, you'll be someone they want to have around.
Looking current shows that you are interested in other
people, that you take note of things going on around you, and
it means that you are creative enough to wear them.
Different Dress Lines
Shift, crew, square, plunge, halter, one-shoulder,
grecian. There are a million different dress lines, but which
one will flatter
your body shape?
Its likely that once you know the difference between
different dress lines, you'll be able to recognise which ones
are likely to suit you the best, and which you should be
getting more of in your wardrobe!
Jacket
Styles
Here are some of the different styles of jacket
around: swing, biker, waterproof, safari, tuxedo, denim,
cropped, blazer. Jackets are an essential item for any woman's
wardrobe, and you shouldn't go anywhere without one in the mid
seasons.
Choose boxy styles for boyish figures, and for those with
more of a curve go with a style with more fluid, lines.
Christmas & New
Year
The holiday season is about sparkle and excess. Pop on
your finest jewelry, a cute winter hat and a red dress and your
all set to stun at this festive time of year.
Why not wear your traditional holiday sweater with
snowmen or reindeer on it? Don't forget to dress your tree as
well as yourself! And for New Year's bring on the glitter and
the high heels at one of the biggest party times of the
year!
