Christmas & New Year
Outfits
Such a fun time of
year, but it can also be quite stressful. So let us take
some of the pressure off, by helping you out with your
holiday outfits.
Be inspired by classic, elegant blogger Deep In
Vogue, who is always dressed just right for a
special occasion. Pop on a gorgeous, feminine silk or chiffon
dress, add some tights, some heels and a bit of fur to keep you
warm.
Don't forget the important accessories, a vintage leather
belt, simple earrings and a gorgeous updo.
No matter what you choose to wear for your holiday event,
make sure it reflects your personal style, and that you feel
super confident and beautiful in it. And don't forget to pay
attention to your hair!
Ideas
for Christmas
outfits:
- Red is the color of the season, so try and incorporate
it into your outfit for a really festive look. Why not pop
some red berries in your hair, or slide on you favourite
red shoes.
- Christmas party dresses are a great way to look good
whilst celebrating with family and friends. There's a
fantastic article about
christmas party dresses at dressearch.com
where you can get all sorts of hints and tips on what style
will be appropriate, and what will enhance your body
shape.
- Go for a smart/casual look if you are celebrating at
home with family on Christmas day. Wear something special
so that you make the day memorable, and you look phenomenal
in all the photos.
- If you have a formal occasion to go to, make sure to
check the dress code before choosing your outfit. Look at
photos of the event from previous years to know what styles
are appropriate. If in doubt, go more glamorous than you
think is necessary!
- Do something different to your hair. To make yourself
look special and ready for a party, practice beautiful chic
updos or book an appointment with your favorite hair
stylist who can blow dry it to perfection.
- Accessorise appropriately. Christmas and New Year are
times for excess, so pile on the glitz with loads of
jewelry and sparkly accessories.
- Get warm with tons of layers (unless of course you live
on the southern hemisphere!). Gloves, hats and scarves are
important, but if you're heading to a formal special
occasion, then indulge in a fur jacket or stole.
- Be inspired by Christmas movies like Little Women,
Miracle on 34th Street and Sex and the City (not
technically a holiday movie, but there's so many special
occasion outfits, it's definitely worth watching!) . Sit
with some mince pies and a cup of hot chocolate, and enjoy
watching from under your warm blanket.
If you can't find the exact sort of outfit you want, why not
try to design and sew your own
clothes for the holiday season? In the above
picture of Deep in Vogue, she's wearing a handmade dress and a
handsewn jacket! Or go thrift and vintage
shopping for some one-of-a-kind pieces that
have history.
